Ahhh, the holiday weekend is over - boo! The Brodster and I traveled to San Diego to spend the 4th with our family and we had a blast. We went to Mission Bay for the festivities, where we had a small BBQ and plenty of time to relax before the fireworks. We actually got super lucky because we didn't arrive until after 4pm (we were watching the World Cup matches at my sister's apartment). Parking looked packed but we found spots right away. The park was already busy, but we found the perfect spot in the shade. Yay!
Mission Bay is a great spot to spend the 4th because you get not one, but TWO firework shows! The downtown San Diego show go first, followed by the Sea World fireworks about 30 minutes later. It was pretty awesome. Plus, the location is a park, by a small beach. You can't get more Californian than that!
If you were following along on Instagram, you saw all the patriotic props the Martinez family sported throughout the day. My mom is always prepared for these holidays. Seriously, her bag was like a Mary Poppins bag: an endless storage for over-the-top red, white, and blue accessories. You can't help but love it!
Where did you spend the 4th?
