This day in history: Mary Poppins premiered in 1964! The music from this film gets better and better every time I listen to it. Julie Andrews is my freakin' hero. Oh, and Dick Van Dyke as Bert is my forever crush.
A few months ago, I illustrated items that reminded me of Mary Poppins just for fun. Just seeing them in black and white made for a instant pattern for fabric. Up they went onto my Spoonflower shop and they have been a favorite on there ever since. Naturally, I had to draw myself into my favorite scene of the film. STEP IN TIME!
Hat: Forever 21 similar / Blazer: Forever 21 similar / Necklace: Caroline G Dress: Cozy Reverie Fabric / Heels: Cathy Jean
I constructed this dress out of the performance fabric option. It is wonderfully comfortable, but MAN is it hard to sew. Are there special machines for these? Sheesh! With that said, I just adore how it came out and can't get over how awesome the "doodles" show up on the knit. I've got to keep this doodle trend going.
Have you used this fabric pattern for your projects?

I rarely enter contests on Instagram, but I had to jump on this one the moment it was announced. The House That Lars Built is known for her color challenges, and this one practically screamed at me. #DressTheRainbow required us to dress to match the wall we were standing in front of. Such a fun idea! It wasn't even about the prize (even though it was hella awesome), I just loved doing it!
If you are already following me on Instagram, then you definitely saw the colorFUN. I have to admit: I improvised. Getting photographs in front of colorful walls around town was just not possible with the kiddos (and by "kiddos", I mean grumpy Lou). Instead of not participating, I made my own walls at home! Not painted walls, but fabric backgrounds. I would switch it up, depending on what the week brought. If you look at my Instagram account, you can see the rainbow going down the feed.
50 days = 50 photos. Above is the gallery of all my looks! I gave myself a theme each week to keep myself on track. It was probably the only reason I was able to do all 50 days! Whew!
Week One: Normal boring me
Week Two: Hair Clips
Week Three: Disney photo props
Week Four: Style my feet
Week Five: Nail polish
Week Six: Handbag Love
Week Seven: Life with Watkinez Boys
It made me realize that I didn't have as much color in my closet as I thought! My most recurring color is grey (what the what?). Some colorful pieces were sold at our yard sale in July, and I regretting doing so because they would have been great for this project. Oh, well. At least this means I need to go shopping (tee! hee!).
Oh, and here's an outtake. Just for fun. :)
My food pouches are here! I want to eat them all. See, this is what happens when you binge-watch Gilmore Girls on Netflix: beautiful, glorious food. My next series is most definitely going to involve COFFEE.
These colorful additions are now live in my Redbubble shop! I'm partial to the cheeseburger, but I don't know if I can deny my French Fries. Check out the complete collection below:
You can shop all pouches here!
So tell me, which one would you eat - er, I mean - wear? Comment below!
It's pretty insane-in-the-membrane around here sometimes. Between running the household, entertaining an infant, karate and school with a 7-year old (the Brodster is also writing and directing his first movie - wut?), handling custom orders, and writing for the blog, I'm hella busy. Life inspires some of my favorite pieces sometimes, which brings fun printables for you. You can download the "Hella Busy" jpeg here, print from your home computer, and frame!
This is perfect for any home and/or office. I would even use it as a door sign, so people know that I'm not to be messed with at the moment! ;) If you aren't a fan of your home printer, you can always find my quality art print here (use the code 15PRINT at checkout to get 15% off at Society6!).
The entire "Hella Busy" collection is available here.

Raise your hand if you can relate! Imagine that I just gave you a high-five.
Some of my favorite wall décor is colorful honesty around the house. These bathroom rules are the necessary and pretty clear, don't you think? There is no confusion what our goal is here! Be sure to download your free printable on the below link or if you'd like a professional print, visit my shop here. I'd love to see your final projects on Instagram!
