It's Pupusas Day! I had to do a little bit of research for this day (and to be quite honest, I'm still not 100% sure if it actually is a day) because the dish isn't exactly a nationwide trend...YET. Pupusas are amazing, so I vote we start a movement to get the love for this carb-a-licious treasure to be the next big thing for 2016. Who's with me?
While I should probably be featuring actual photographs of the food, I'm just not a food photographer. I'm really not that great at it. I do draw food though! So instead I'm featuring my "Horchata y Pupusas" scarf! The design is already a favorite in the Red Bubble shop, so I think this one may need to get a bit more exposure on Instagram, don't you think? I freakin' love this sheer scarf, which is perfect for year-round wear, and it's huge, which means it can be worn in so many different ways!
Have you ever tasted Pupusas? For those that don't know, Pupusas is a traditional Salvadoran dish and it's carbalicious! Usually made with thick, handmade tortillas and filled with cheese, pork, or beans (or all three!). If you haven't tasted either one before, I highly suggest you find a Central American restaurant near you and make a day out of it. This cuisine is something everyone should enjoy!
Side note: there is no documented "Horchata Day" so we need to jump on this with the quickness.
My food pouches are here! I want to eat them all. See, this is what happens when you binge-watch Gilmore Girls on Netflix: beautiful, glorious food. My next series is most definitely going to involve COFFEE.
These colorful additions are now live in my Redbubble shop! I'm partial to the cheeseburger, but I don't know if I can deny my French Fries. Check out the complete collection below:
You can shop all pouches here!
So tell me, which one would you eat - er, I mean - wear? Comment below!
Back-to-school time! I'm actually looking forward to it. Vacations are a lot harder with two kids that have such a big age difference (sorry, man, but I'm freakin' tired). My little second grader only got about a month and a half off, and soon we will have to start our early morning routines again. He's not excited at all, but I'm like this.
School prep means we get to go shopping! I love going on the hunt for school supplies. Last year, I took the list quite literally, getting the exact brands that were specified. Well, this year, the Brodster and I will be having a bit of fun.
With back-to-school quickly approaching, I am in major money-saving mode. One way that I have found as a great investment of my time is earning points with Bing Rewards.
By signing up with the program, Bing makes it super easy to earn great rewards, like gift cards and sweepstakes entries. Personally, I usually choose Amazon and Starbucks cards. However, with school supply shopping coming soon, I have added Toys R Us and Macys to my list. Intrigued? Let me tell you how easy it really is! All you have to do is search the web using Bing! Here's the breakdown:
1. Sign up.
2. For every two searches on Bing, you earn one point (up to 15 points a day).
3. If you use their mobile app, you can earn up to an additional 10 points a day. That brings you to a total of 25 points a day!
4. Most $5 gift cards cost 525 points. So it would only take you 21 days to earn a gift card!
5. Once you reach the gold level, your gift card cost will drop to 475 points, making it even easier to earn cards!
Another bonus is if you refer a friend. Once your buddies reach silver status (meaning redeeming their first reward), you earn 150 points! A win for your bud is a win for you!
Want even more goodness? Sometimes, Bing will send me codes for FREE rewards, like an 8x8 hard cover Shutterfly photobook! This was ideal when I wanted to document Brody's year of first grade and will do the same with 2nd.
So how exactly does this help save for school? Here are the list of rewards I can use for during the year:
1. School Supplies: Amazon gift card
2. Backpack/School supplies: Toys R Us gift card
3. School Shoes/Clothes: Macys gift card
4. School Memories: Shutterfly photo deal
5. Good Grade Rewards: Gamestop gift card
6. Charity: $1 to Kids in Need, $1 to Teach for America
7. Gifts for teachers: Gilt, Macys, Sephora, Starbucks gift card
8. For my sanity during the school year: Groupon, Starbucks gift card

I'm excited to shop! No boring, yellow pencils in this pencil pouch! I'm probably going to be shopping for my office too (you'll see my own personal wish list tomorrow). Oh, and I think I may have become a little obsessed with erasers. What is it about the perfect eraser that makes me giddy?
Still, I'm going to miss my little rascal. Yes, I've got an 9-month old to keep me busy, but life was so much easier with his big brother around. I'm sure Lou will be missing the Brodster too. We'll just weep together while we get used to the routine again. :)
It's officially summer vacation! No more school drop-offs, pick ups, projects, or homework until August. Is anybody else excited? I get to spend the summer with my boys!
Now, I did promise myself to chill out more than I did last summer. Camp Watkinez 2014 involved so much research and planning every minute of every day, and we just don't have time for that. My parents never planned my days like that. Kids should really have some freedom during the summer, especially now that it's much shorter than when I was a kid (my kid's break is only a month and a half).
Instead, we have created a to-do list. Some are from the list posted at A Waltz Through Disney, and we've added a few of our own.
1. Go to the movies - a lot
With Jurassic World, Inside Out, and Fantastic Four opening this summer, we've got a lot to look forward to.
2. Go to a free archery class
Roving Archers in Pasadena offers a free class for all ages once a month. We have got to try something new.
3. Go to at least one Dodger game
Because no summer is complete without a game at Dodger stadium.
4. Have a scavenger hunt
I am creating a small hunt, catering to families this summer. Be sure to follow the A Waltz Through Disney's Facebook page if you are interested in joining the fun!
5. Make the beach our second home
We live so close to so many beaches and should stop being so lazy. Plus, I can't wait to see Lou hang out in that summer breeze.
6. More Karate!
The Brodster just earned his orange belt and has asked to go four days a week, rather than the usual three.
7. Visit Walt Disney's Barn in Griffith Park
We've been talking about going for ages, so I'm determined to make it happen this year!
8. San Diego Weekend
With my sister living there, we have the perfect tour guide. She makes our visits practically effortless. As much as I love L.A., I can't wait to escape for a weekend and have a relaxing trip.
9. Read, read, read
I am determined to read at least one book this summer. I have got to get out of the habit of being online during any free time I have. Plus, the Brodster will be doing the Barnes 'n Noble Summer Reading program, so I've got to lead by example.
10. Get Froyo once a week
Because having fun is hard work and deserves a treat!
Flower Clip: Gift / Aviators: Target similar / Dress: Target (old) / Pouch: Cozy Reverie
What are your plans for the summer?
I draw, make, and occasionally tell a story.
