Got a fun DIY for you today! I illustrated Buddy the Elf as an advent calendar! Based off my "Smiling is My Favorite" collection on Society 6, Buddy can decorate your mantle this year.
This is easily one of my top five favorite Christmas movies, so naturally I am imposing it on my son. The project is pretty easy to make. The only challenge is having 24 toilet paper rolls lying around.
1. 24 empty toilet paper rolls
2. Tissue paper
Step One: Download template
Step Two: Print 12 copies of template and cut out the 24 sheets. Each sheet has a blank circle on the left side of Buddy, so be sure to write the number of the date for your countdown.
Step Three: Wrap a small square of tissue paper over one end of the toilet paper roll. Tape the end shut.
Step Four: DON'T FORGET TO PUT IN THE TREAT! This could be candy, toys, or special messages - whatever fits (I closed a few of them, forgetting to put in the treat so I had to start over)!
Step Five: Wrap the other end with tissue paper and tape shut.
Step Six: Wrap a template sheet around the toilet paper roll and tape closed.
This would be great for anyone! Parents can make them for their kids, older siblings can make them for their younger siblings, friends can make them for each other. Super easy and super quick!
I just thought of a fun idea: An advent calendar gift exchange! Kind of like Secret Santa, but where you have to make an advent calendar for the person you picked. Too late for it this year, but I definitely want to make this happen next year.
Who would you make this calendar for?
