During this time of year, I always reminisce about my time working retail. I spent over ten years working holiday seasons in a local mall, most of it being at Old Navy. I would have to say, it is a huge influence on me even to this day. Christmas music is the best. We would have the same songs playing on loop in the store, and I loved it. Now, I still fold shirts in stores because I can't imagine leaving the mess. Oh, and leave clothes in the fitting room? Hell-to-da-NO. I return everything where I found it. That's just the life after retail. I know what it is like, and if I can make the holiday just a little bit more bearable for the people working customer service, I will. Shoot, I mostly shop online or make my gifts nowadays! I won't brave those crowds if I don't have to.
As hard as it was working those crazy hours with the madness from Black Friday/Day After Christmas/$1 Flip Flop Sale, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I learned so much and met some of the best people in my life, all while having fun. So best of luck to all that work those 18-hour shifts and/or til 2am this season! It may be hard now, but just know you'll remember this time fondly. Even if you don't, at least you're getting some sweet OT.
By the way, today's dress is from Old Navy. ;)
