I am living iPhone free! It's really not much different since I traded in for another smartphone: the HTC One (which I love, by the way). Today I discovered one new predicament - I wasn't getting as many texts as I normally do.
Hmm. Weird. Shrug it off and move on.
My sister had to text me from our mom's phone for me to finally realize that texts from other iPhone users weren't making it to my phone. Why only iPhone users? After a quick search online, I discovered it was because of the messaging system iMessage. You see, this service is awesome for iPhone users because it gives them unlimited messaging services from iPhone to iPhone. However, if you switch to a non-iPhone after already having iMessage, you will not get texts that are sent via iMessage.
Apparently, your phone number stays linked to the iMessage service, even though you no longer have the iPhone. You must unregister your iPhone to get rid of the iMessage connection. I learned how to fix that situation today, so I hope this post can help you out too!
1. Log in to your Apple account
You can click the image below to be directed to the link.
2. Click on Edit Products
3. Click the X by the product you would like to unregister.
4. Click Unregister
5. All done!
You should receive an email confirmation in a few minutes, stating which product was unregistered.
Let me know if this helps!
