Q is for QueenLouie is dressed as the front man for the band, Queen, today! Freddie Mercury is the first actual person I've illustrated onto Louie and it was a bit of a challenge, especially since I'm only doing these pieces in black, grey and white. If I were able to do the yellow jacket, it would clearly be the legendary singer. I'm just such a stickler for my themes when I start, and it would bug me forever if this was the only one with a bit of color. Crazy coincidence, but today is the anniversary of Mercury's death. I didn't realize our "Q" post would land on this day! He passed away on November 24, 1991, from bronchopneumonia resulting from AIDS. It still blows my mind how incredibly talented this man was, and can only dream what he could have been if he had lived longer. At the moment, "Don't Stop Me Now" is stuck in my head. I'll probably play the band's greatest hits while the Brodster and I get the house ready for Thanksgiving. They're sure to get us moving. Plus, Louie should get exposed to the classics early, don't you think? Don't forget about the contest - What's your guess for tomorrow's letter?
