You may or may not have noticed, but this is the first time I have worn a swimsuit on the blog. That's because I had never found one that I was comfortable in until now. And because I'm scared SH*TLESS to do so.
Now, this is a big deal for me because I am not a tiny gal. Short? Yes. Tiny? Not anymore. Oh, and it's not because of the babies either. I have been battling with my curves since the Freshman 15. Hey, man, when you aren't playing four sports in high school anymore, all those double-western-bacon cheeseburgers catch up with you.
I have never been able to wear one-piece suits (my top half is much smaller than the bottom half of my body), so I have to go with two pieces. Bikinis are extremely out of my comfort zone, so the search for the perfect swimsuit has always been daunting. Well, not anymore! This two-piece vintage inspired suit is from Unique Vintage and I love it. The high-waist hides any insecurity I have about my abs, while being incredibly comfortable. I was lucky enough to snag it up during their big 50% off sale a couple months ago so it was super affordable too.
This isn't to say I'm totally comfortable in my skin. After a couple of weeks, I was actually thinking of reshooting this post because I was starting to nitpick how I looked. Self-image is a tricky and scary subject, especially for bloggers that photograph themselves, like me. But you know what? At some point, you gotta say frack it. I love this suit! It's totally my style and I refuse to hide behind a beach blanket all summer. I may not fill a swimsuit like models in a magazine, but I'm pretty sure 95% of the world doesn't either. So here it is: me doing one of the bravest posts on the blog to date! I'm pretty darn proud of it. :)
Side note: Can we talk about how ridiculously hard victory rolls are? Oh my gosh, doing my hair took forever and they still aren't right! Have you found the perfect vintage victory roll tutorial? If so, let me know!
