Summer is officially here! Why we took so long to get to the beach is unexplained and unacceptable. I mean, we're almost in July, for Pete's sake! It took a moment of looking at our calendar to find out that this past Saturday was our last chance to have a beach day. So off to Zuma we went! CLEARLY I have been in need of some sunshine fun. My skin is practically transparent, but I guess that's what happens when you have a desk job. My dream job has always been an outdoors-y type of environment, so until I find that, I'll just have to keep finding ways to squeeze in some sand time. We got to Zuma beach (located in Malibu, CA) around 9am and it was pleasantly quiet. Most folks make it to the area around noon, so we had the shore to ourselves for a couple of hours. It was awesome! Just listening to the waves crashing and having plenty of room to run around was the perfect way to relax. The photo above is pretty much the time stamp of summer 2013. I have been waiting to see these two flicks! Monsters University opened last Friday and The Lone Ranger is not far behind. It is a rare treat for me to go to a theater, but I'm a sucker for animation and westerns - GOTS TO GO! Super simple outfit for the beach: Swim suit, flip flops, shirts and a tank. (The tank is DIY project that will be posted this Wednesday! It can be found here) Abuela found these fantastic sand toys for Brody at a yard sale. When you pack the sand in them, they create the shape of a fossil! Perfect for a kid that loves dinosaurs. Brody and Patrick spent most of the morning in the sand, digging and attempting to build....er...something. Next time, we'll have to bring some kind of blueprint. ;)
So all in all, the morning at the beach was a great idea, even though I got sunburnt. Don't forget to reapply every 30 minutes, kiddos. You won't regret it!
