Last week, a good friend of mine nominated me and three others to choose 5 photos that made us feel beautiful. Naturally, I start going through old albums of special occasions. Still, nothing really stood out. Then I remember something Brody said to me earlier that same day. I had taken off my glasses for a moment when he said, "Mom, I think you're pretty with your glasses."
I was disheveled that day. Yoga pants on, loose-fitting top, and my hair was a mess, especially after watering my mother's garden. Oh, yeah and zero make-up (oh maybe, that's why he liked the glasses?). Yet, at that moment, my kid thought I was pretty. What?
That's what gave me the idea of these five photos. I quickly shot them in all my mommy glory. No make up, no wardrobe change, not even a quick brushing of my hair. This is what I have looked like every day this summer with my kid, and that was beautiful enough for him. THAT makes me feel beautiful.
Sure, I still like to dress up and get girly, but it's not every day. It's certainly not at 8am in the morning when my day begins with this adorable six-year-old. Pretty soon, I'll be looking absolutely gorgeous with a newborn! YAY! Nobody will be able to handle my sleepless-nights-hotness!
What makes you feel beautiful?
I draw, make, and occasionally tell a story.
