Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Star Wars Celebration Anaheim was postponed to 2022, but that didn't stop fans from celebrating! When they first announced that the event would be post-poned, I was both bummed out and relieved. Selfishly, I wanted it to happen, but I also didn't want anyone to risk spreading the virus. Well, the fandom community definitely made the best of it. Thanks to the many creators, and especially the Galactic Coven (@galactic_coven on Instagram!), there was so much fun content to consume this past weekend.
While following along with the panels, tutorials and small business shop fun, I posted a few Star Wars looks that I planned on wearing during the celebration. I will probably change my mind by 2022, so here are the looks that could have been walking around the Anaheim Convention Center:
Day 1: Ahsoka Tano
I made this mask back in April, thinking it was slightly paranoid since Covid-19 would totally be under control by August...and yet, here we are, mask still relevant, but at least it's my favorite one! The design was made specifically to match this @heruniverse tee.
Day 2: Padmé Amidala
Padmé tells the handmaidens what happened on the balcony. You just know Sabé had opinions! LOL
Day 3: Crimson Dawn tee
I had originally planned on an original cosplay outfit for Saturday, but since the event was postponed, I decided to wait on constructing it. For the virtual celebration, I designed a Crimson Dawn tee that I imagine Qi'ra might wear on a lazy day.
Day 4: Galactic Coven Gala
This outfit was a whole new concept for this weekend! The Galactic Coven hosted a virtual party inspired by Canto Bight. I loved this idea and had so many styles I wanted to try, but kept it simple this time around. If I had more time to plan, I think I would have tried an alien headpiece. Instead, I spent more time on creating a character rather than the outfit LOL! You can see more looks from all the lovely attendees via the #GalacticCovenGala hashtag on Instagram.
Meet Jadonna Kraz, ambassador from New Bornalex. Kraz is relatively new in her position, but clear on what she hopes to achieve. While still very green on the political aspect of socializing, she has quickly become the young celebrity that people love or hate (there is no in-between). She has carefully hidden her association with the Resistance, by consistently disavowing any connection and maintaining plausible deniability. Even her wealthy family, which are well-known First Order supporters, do not know she has been funneling funds and resources to General Organa's cause. Kraz's greatest strength is her empathy, which enables her to focus on her mission. Fueled by an early teenage memory, when she learned of the kidnapped children that were raised to become stormtroopers, she will stop at nothing to help bring back justice and balance to the galaxy. Only on her second visit to Canto Bight, she hopes to establish and solidify more relationships this time around, with the possibility of creating more allies.
