Do you have a capsule wardrobe? If not, are you considering it? While this may not be for everyone, a capsule wardrobe is something I absolutely needed in my life. I just didn't know it. As a style blogger, I thought "That won't work for me" and "I wouldn't have anything to blog about". Plus, let's mention the fact that I love shopping. "Of course, it won't be for me." For those unfamiliar, a capsule wardrobe is basically limiting the amount of items in your closet to a small number. This is in hopes to reduce stress and clutter in your every day life, not to mention helping out your wallet. You only shop once a season (four times a year) and stick to that, which makes life a whole lot easier. In my case, any, if not all, new pieces in my closet will be DIYs! I didn't realize how beneficial this would be until my #DressemberCapsule. When I signed up to wear 31 days of dresses in support of this organization, I knew I wasn't going to be able to wear 31 different dresses. To be honest, I had gained weight so a lot of dresses already in my closet didn't fit as great, but there was no way I could buy that many new items, especially during the holidays. So I logically decided to do a capsule wardrobe for 31 days. Using 7 dresses (plus a ton of accessories), I was able to change it up each day. Getting dressed in the morning was stress free! Laundry was easy! I couldn't believe how much time I used to waste with my closet every morning. Cursing item after item and rummaging through pieces I never wore. By the end of the month, I realized a capsule wardrobe is practically ideal for me. Now, I just need to add a few key tops and pants and I will be set! Earlier this week, I went through major cleaning of my closet. I told myself to get rid of everything I didn't wear in 2015. It didn't matter if it was cute or not. No more clutter. I still have quite a bit to do, but I already feel like I am starting the year off right. Oh yeah! And since accessories don't count towards the capsule, I've got all the color I need with my scarves, hats, and jewelry. Having a capsule wardrobe also fits nicely with my goal of making my own clothing this year. I gave myself the task of making at least one handmade/DIY project a month. YEE! I'm so excited to get started! Want to try it out? It's a whole lot easier than I thought! However, you need to be mentally prepared that you will be getting rid of A LOT of your items. I have found that my mindset is ready for change at the beginning of the year, so you should start today. I followed Unfancy's 5 Steps to Create a Capsule Wardrobe with her Capsule Wardrobe Planner. Be sure to pin this so you can start tonight!
Best of luck and be sure to let me know how it goes for you!
