I have been feeling a bit nostalgic lately, probably because I drop off my son at my alma mater everyday. While browsing the movies on demand, I came across a musical I have loved since high school. You see, my senior year, they finally decided to start a theatre program. Their first production? West Side Story. I must have watched this movie at least 100 times since then. Some of my most vivid memories from 1999 (yep, that's the year I graduated) are from this production. Tons of hours helping with make up, hair, and choreography with a bunch of friends - what could be better?
While most tend to lean towards the Juliet-type character, Maria (played by Natalie Wood), I was obsessed with Rita Moreno's performance as Anita. This musical has heavy choreography and Moreno is clearly the female lead in that department. I could watch her gym dance and rooftop numbers over and over - ridiculously gorgeous!
I draw, make, and occasionally tell a story.
