I have never been a big fan of carving pumpkins - terrible, I know. I think it is because I can't stand the clean up it requires. Plus, it's super hard to carve. My hands always end up super sore (am I the only one?). It takes a whole lot of energy and I have never been very good at it. This is why I am so amazed by pumpkin carvers - that is one incredible skill!
In recent years, painting pumpkins has been trending, which is a whole lot easier for the boys and I (see here). One thing I love about it is how therapeutic the process can be. It's just like sketching or painting on a canvas, only it's on a pumpkin. The challenge is using this unconventional canvas for your art, and that is always fun to try. Below is a video I created a last year (that I made for the #FallIntoDisneyStyle challenge) of a simple pattern on a mini pumpkin. It isn't spectacular but I loved taking the time to try it.
