In the past, people have asked me why I am not working at an animation studio. Let’s be honest, I’m not that good. Shoot, sometimes I don’t think I’m very good at all! Maybe I could have been at that level if I actually majored in art, but I’m not trained. I just draw what I like, which is probably a better venue for me! I have the freedom for my own designs and ideas. Inspired by my friends, family, and imagination, I am doing what I love on my own terms. Sure, I’m not making a living out of it, but it makes me happy. Isn’t that what life is about anyway?
One thing I have not been very good about is my portfolio. There will always be the occasional question “Where can I find your work?” and I always kick myself, thinking “That damn unfinished portfolio!” One section that is especially lacking is my custom pieces. Throughout the years, I have created invitations, posters, greeting cards, etc. that have all been personalized for special occasions. These have been some of my favorite to make because they are meant to capture a moment in someone’s life. During the process, I am invited into their personal story and am allowed to help make someone’s day special – how cool is that?
So today, I introduce you to the Amy Watkins Portfolio. If you are ever looking for a custom piece, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to ask any questions you may have about the process. These projects always end up finding their way up to the top of my to-do lists because I love them so much. I can’t wait to hear from you!
I draw, make, and occasionally tell a story.
